About Baul Music
The music of the Bauls, bAul saMgeet, (recorded as early as the mid-18th century) refers to a particular type of folk song of sung by Bauls in the rural Bengal. It carries influences of bhakti movements as well as the shuphi, a form of Sufi song mediated by many thousand miles of cultural intermixing, exemplified by the songs of Kabir, for instance. Their music represents a long heritage of preaching mysticism through songs in Bengal. (Wikipedia.com)

Screening of Film

Battle's Poison Cloud (54 min)

by

Ceclie

This film shows the effect of Agent Orange (dioxin) a herbicide sprayed by United States during the Vietnam war. Between 1965-1973 the US sprayed tonnes of Agent Orange, a herb killer containing the gene-altering toxin dioxin, to clear forests that hid the communist guerrillas. It wiped out forests and maimed and deformed even unborn children.

Screening of Anti War Music Video

America America

by
K.P. Sasi

It is a music video based on Kamaan Singh Dhami's satirical anti war song 'American War Paar Da!'. The song, set to the tune of the Sinhalese dance number 'Surangini', lampoons the emire - its nuclear stockpile, cozy relationship with fanatics and dictators
and a highly selective notion of peace and liberty.
